"Every now and then, when my facial hair is long, Kitty and I rub whiskers... Like men," said Aaron.

As if there's anything masculine about rubbing whiskers with a cat.

Knuckles of glory

From kung fu class yesterday.

Man I know my hormones are out of whack when Lady in Red comes on the intercom at the store and I realize it's actually a really moving song. Wth?!

McDonald's late night in the rain...

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

Today I accidentally packed the wrong shirt for my kung fu class,  so I had to wear Aaron's Ride the Lightning Metallica shirt. I got so many comments. When I was leaving, this kid was like, 'Did you go to a Metallica concert? Or do you just have the shirt?'
And I was like, 'Well, you know that movie Place Beyond the Pines? Ryan Gosling wears this shirt in it.'
Him: 'So you wear the shirt to feel closer to Ryan Gosling?'
Me: 'Well, not really...'

I should've just told him my husband has a man crush on Ryan Gosling...or rather, his character in that movie, but it just seemed like too much to explain.

If anyone ever wronged me, I would hope to respond as quickly and decisively as this girl. But I fear I would hesitate and just stand there, confused and panicked. Like the physical version of not coming up with a verbal comeback to an insult until 3 am, lying in bed and replaying the offensive situation over and over in your head.

Note that she kicks him so hard near the end she propels herself backwards about ten feet.

Oh, and I ended up going with Android...Windows OS was just too closed and I couldn't even bluetooth pictures I'd taken to the computer. I'm pretty much loving Android right now :) The only downside is my kitten pluggy doesn't work with my new phone! Though the fact that it does have a lanyard hole almost makes up for it.

My new watch I got from Walmart! I got it so I can time the torture while doing horse stance in kung fu class.

I didn't want to spend more than $15 on one and am super happy I found this awesome one rather than having to settle for a lame one!

Today I was in the bathtub taking a bath and Kitty walked in, so I told Aaron to pick him up and balance him on my stomach, which was not yet underwater. Kitty squeaked in fear and lifted up his back legs like the bathtub was a vat of acid...and when Aaron let him down, he ran away. I feel bad, like a torturer of small animals.

After work

Got home after working a Sunday shift and B.P. immediately laid down next to me like this...kitty cuddles even make working a weekend okay.

Tuesday, July 9, 2013

I just had two slices of Papa Murphy's pizza covered liberally in hot red pepper flakes, and I can actually feel the pepper burning through my stomach lining...just the way I like it :) My lips are actually burning a little too.

I've recently been in a phone-obsessed state, as it's apparently time for me to upgrade from my Nokia N8 to something with a better keyboard. Yes, truthfully, if the N8 just had a better keyboard I would stick with it, as I prefer Symbian far and above any of the currently available mobile operating systems.

Reasons that the N8 is awesome:
1. 12 mp camera
The N8 came out in 2009, when the iphone was still at 5 mp, and android barely 8 mp. There's very few options even now that compete with the N8's camera, both in terms of megapixels and software.  Possible options: Sony Xperia Z (but I've already had a short, bad experience with an Xperia a few years ago), and some of the current Nokia Lumias.

2. super stable...no problems, and Symbian Belle is fairly fast with very little lag.

3. Great battery life, don't have to charge every night.
Battery life on newer phones frustrates me because people have gotten so used to bad battery life that nowadays even phone reviewers will just give a phone a good score for battery life if it lasts through the day with moderate use. I remember when I used to be able to charge my phone about once a week.

4. Symbian doesn't try to prevent file-sharing.
iOS and Windows Phone make it very difficult to file-share through bluetooth or usb, for anti-piracy reasons, I'm assuming, even though Windows Phone's excuse is that the system stays more stable by not giving the user access to system files...ok well what about my own files that i have saved on my sd card? In the end, it's all about these companies trying to control what I do with my own device and the files I own. Android doesn't do this, but the disorganization of it's file managing system and generic UI just does not appeal to me. Symbian gave me tons of freedom, while keeping the files organized, and the system stayed stable.

Reasons that I'm ready to get a different phone:
1. The keyboard!! I literally cannot type on it. I actually almost got a Blackberry Q10 because I was so sick of the whole touch screen keyboard thing, but the dealbreaker there is the camera shutter sound on Blackberrys can't be removed. I spent about 72 hours figuring out how to hack the N8 to get rid of that shutter sound, but there is no hack for the Blackberry Q10. I must take pictures of the animals sleeping, and the shutter sound gives me away...also that sound is just jarring.

2. Apps
Actually the apps thing is not really a dealbreaker, I have the ones I can't live without, but I have to admit they do provide a mild advantage when comparing the N8 to Android or even Windows Phone.

Anyways, I am currently trying out Windows Phone on a Nokia Lumia 521 that I got off ebay for cheap...I like the tiles home page, I like the relative app riches (when compared to symbian, WP has a lot of apps), and I love the keyboard. The keyboard's still not as good as a physical, but good enough. The only thing I absolutely hate is the lack of a file manager and the ability for apps to access files stored on the phone. Everything is cloud-driven, and it's obnoxious. The storage for each app is separate. For example, I have a ton of ebooks saved on my sd card, which is inserted in the phone. I downloaded a bunch ebook reader apps, and none of them can access the ebooks on the sd card. I had to upload the ebooks to skydrive, then get on the phone and download the files into the ereader apps. For each app. Even though one app had all my books, I had to download the books to the other apps as well, using up more memory on the phone.

Frustration. It feels like the more technology advances, the more ways people think of to cripple it.

Anyways, notice I have not mentioned the iphone. It just bores me. I haven't even ever had one and I'm bored by it...

Maybe I should wait for Jolla?

Apparently in my sleep last night I said "Cersei Lannister" and "Daenarys Stormborn" and laughed. I wish I knew what I was dreaming about because that dream seems a lot more interesting than my real life right now. At work this weekend and looking at how amazing the weather is outside the drive thru window, all I want to do is strip nekkid (or down to my cut off shorts and a tank top, realistically), and go running around outside.

Today was deemed 'fart day' by the powers that be...I had to go take a test at the testing center for a class I'm taking and the guy beside me kept dropping SBDs. It was awful, and very distracting. I was super tempted to turn to him and say, "Would you please stop farting?!" It would've been hilarious because what could he have done? It was the testing center so he couldn't very well have turned and denied it. He would've just had to live with my accusation, mortified, and tried to finish off his test.

Then, as I was walking out of the building to my car, an oldish guy walked by and dropped another bomb that was anything but silent. Like, earth shakingly loud. It cheered me up because it was just so funny. I don't think he knew I was there, and if he realized he would've been embarrassed. Or maybe, like my grandfather, he wouldn't have cared at all.

I don't know if the tone of this blog seems strange, but if it does, it's because I'm typing it from an ipad and I'm at work.

Air and I have just finished watching Game of Thrones Season 2, and I'm going through withdrawals from Game of Thrones and Walking Dead. I'm so sick of the seasons thing. I want every show to go and go until completion, because every time a season ends, I'm devastated, but by the time it starts up again, I'm not totally in the mood anymore, and the return just doesn't seem as sweet as it would've been four months ago. Like Mad Men is starting up again on Sunday, and I just feel nothing...I just want Walking Dead or Game of Thrones back! Oh the pain of first world problems.
